Daily Encouragement for a Healthy Life – Day 12

Looking up into the stars, and gazing at the vastness of the galaxy and beyond, our insignificance and our “smallness” can fall upon us like a heavy weight. For those who do not know Christ, and even worse, for those who choose to believe in blind chance existence, a gaze into the dark of night can send a chill of loneliness right to the core of one’s soul.

But for those who have been given eyes to see, a gaze into the vast array of untouchable heavens, can fill us with the awesome realization that we are far from alone. Psalm 19 says, “The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims His handiwork. Day to day pours out speech, and night to night reveals knowledge. There is no speech, nor are there words, whose voice is not heard. Their voice goes out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world.”

We can know that the glory we see in the heavens was created from the outpouring of the glory of our magnificent God. If we can look up and be silenced by His power in creation, how much more by His own Word can we be assured of His sovereignty and direction in our own lives? We can know that the same God who created all these things has a love so incomprehensible, so unending, that even the heavens pale in comparison. “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only son, that whoever should believe in Him, shall not perish, but have eternal life.” The words of John 3:16 tear through space and time and point to His ultimate creativity and passion…us. “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them”. (Eph.2:10)

For that same God to enter His own creation, and to walk among us (1 John 14), and to offer us eternal union with Him, does that not in itself confirm to us our significance to Him? Today, oh today, let us bow down in humbled adoration. Let us remove our focus from all our trials, struggles, and stumblings, and look to our Creator, our Redeemer, and our God. Let us take our cue from the galaxy and allow Him to declare His glory through us, our surrendered lives, and our bowed submission.
