Other seed fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up and choked it, and it yielded no grain. (Mark 4:7)… They are those who hear the word, but the cares of the world and the deceitfulness of riches and the desires for other things enter in and choke the word, and it proves unfruitful. (Mark 4:18) The Lord said that “If anyone does not abide in me he is thrown away like a branch and withers; and the branches are gathered, thrown into the fire, and burned.” (John 15:6)
Christian, we cannot afford to be asleep any longer. We must abide in the life giving vine and allow Him to nourish us, and to remove the weeds that smother us and shade us from the Son. We must no longer embrace the weeds that surround us and welcome them to consume us at leisure, but we must be diligent to work the soil of our lives and remove the rich places where the weeds thrive. It is time to turn from sin and embrace life. To embrace the Life-Giver, to embrace Jesus.
