Christian, when we remember the Resurrection Day, when we shout Happy Easter Hallelujah; do we REALLY know what He has done? Do we really understand why we shout with joy? Can we even scratch the surface of knowing what was heaped upon Him? When we turn our heads and bow down to yet another “socially acceptable” idol, when we greedily consume more…more stuff, more pleasure, more entertainment, more food, more experience… but slip deeper into an anorexic coma starving for the Word that sits unopened on the dusty shelf while we ignore the deafening cry of the afflicted; when the darkest of our sins, in the darkest places of our hearts, full of murder and rage, pride and self-righteous piety, self-sufficiency and laziness remain hidden from view, most dangerously our own; when we love only those who love us…barely; when we take His grace and pull Him off the throne of our hearts time and time again, replacing Him with the enemy or with ourselves, do we understand what WE have heaped upon Him?… then sin yet again when we make light of what He’s done? Can we know the utter aloneness He felt when The Father looked away from all that sin He carried, OUR SIN, so that WE would never have to be alone?

Sadly, most of us fail to understand what He has done.

But He.. has.. risen! And we are FREE! For when He ascended into heaven He lead a host of captives…and those captives are us. We shout because we have been set FREE! We shout, we sing, we worship!! For it is for freedom Christ has set us free. So if the Son sets us free, we will be free indeed!! (Galatians 5:1; John 8:36)

So then, as we celebrate today, let us prepare our minds for action, being sober-minded, setting our hope fully on the grace that will be brought to us at the revelation of Jesus Christ. Let us stand firm, then, and not let ourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery. (1 Peter 1:13; Galatians 5:1)

Let us shout, just a little louder this time…
